How To Cook Conch Soup?

  1. Before any cooking takes place, make sure to clean the conch meat thoroughly under cold water and remove any orange or black meat you may find – this portion is usually reserved for salads and not used in cooking.
  2. Now it’s time for our favorite part – making the meat tender! Take a heavy mallet and pound the meat gently. Keep pounding it until it starts to look like a chicken cutlet, but don’t go crazy. We don’t want any meat coming apart!
  3. Chop up the tenderized meat and place it into a pot with salted water.
  4. The conch should cook for about an hour. Anything less will result in rubbery meat.
  5. During the cooking time, feel free to add some seasoning, such as garlic and oregano. Add some onions and potatoes too. Whatever vegetables work best for you will work perfectly for this stew.
  6. That’s it. If the cooking time is up, your conch stew is all done and ready to eat.
